Why ClickFunnels Is a Bad Option In 2020

ClickFunnels is a product that has a lot of hype from its customers, who are mostly affiliates.

The truth is that there are way better options out there than ClickFunnels. Why?

It comes down to pricing and features. ClickFunnels does only offer basic funnel building. When it comes to their other features such as email marketing, webinars and membership sites they perform pretty poorly with mnay bugs or just missing features within the feature (if that makes sense).

To help you understand this better, we are going to go into it in a bit more detail within this guide.

Why ClickFunnels Is a Bad Option In 2020

We think that ClickFunnels is a bad option in 2020 for three main reasons.

1. The pages look pretty Scammy

Firstly, the pages look pretty scammy.

A lot of the pages that you create with ClickFunnels have a sort of “Scam feel” attached to them. We love simplicity too, but ClickFunnels pages look like they were made in the early 2000’s and look like you would have just grabbed them from a traffic exchange kind of site.

Of course, you don’t really want to advertise your business like that.

2. These Features Are Pretty Bad…

  • Email Marketing
  • Membership Sites
  • Webinars

Let’s start with Email marketing, you can’t build automation sequences. This means you will have to pay for an additional $50 per month autoresponder.

Secondly, let’s talk about Webinars. The webinars in ClickFunnels have a very bad user experience and your customer can often see that it’s pre-recorded and sometimes it will just restart the webinar for no reason. This of course, is not something you want, so we recommending avoiding ClickFunnels when it comes to Webinars.

It’s pretty similar for Membership sites, login and signup pages are pretty hard to differentiate from each other and the user experience is as bad as with the Webinars.

3. Pricing/Features Compared To Competitors

Let’s take a look at the pricing compared to their competitors:

Kartra: Starts at $99 per month, offers way more features such as email marketing (with automation sequences), membership sites (that don’t suck), affiliate management (in the smaller plans too), Video hosting, helpdesks and more for a smaller/same price as ClickFunnels.

You can get a Kartra trial for $1.

GetResponse: GetResponse offers similar features, funnel building + (full) email marketing + webinars. However, the difference here is that the features actually work and the pricing starts from just $15 per month. Again, another option that is much better than ClickFunnels.

Self-hosting: Lastly, we have another option which is self-hosting, you can host your own website(s) and then build your own pages. You can use a CMS such as WordPress and install a nice theme, alongside a page builder such as Thrive Architect. If you do go down this route, we recommend going for a managed WordPress hosting solution, as this means you will be able to have a much faster and secure site.

A page builder will be pretty cheap, usually 50-70$ one time or per year, the hosting will be $30 per month. For each other feature, you would probably be looking at $10-$50 per month on top, depending on which solution you go for and stuff like that.
